We are excited to announce the availability of our January rolling release for CloudBees Jenkins Enterprise (CJE) and fixed release for CloudBees Jenkins Platform (CJP). A significant highlight regarding January's rolling release is full support for CloudBees Jenkins Enterprise on Kubernetes.
Additionally, we published a new release of CJP fixed-2.46 (CJP Client Master & CJP Operations Center). This release line started with 2.46.24.0.2 on 2017-06-28. Now, 6 months later, we have started a new release line based on 2.73.
What does this mean for you?
- If you are on the fixed release, please upgrade now
- CJP Fixed 2.46 will be supported until 2018-04-17
- Over next three months, our release Team will manage both lines: fixed-2.46 and fixed-2.73
CloudBees Jenkins Enterprise 2.1.0 & 1.11.2
These releases of CloudBees Jenkins Enterprise enable cloud-native capabilities within the product and, most notably, allows for native integration with Kubernetes (K8S), which has fast become the industry standard for managing and deploying cloud-native applications. We support Kubernetes v.1.7.0 and higher, here are some highlights about this release.
Feature | Benefit |
---|---|
Install and manage CJE on Kubernetes Use the native CLI, kubectl, to control your CJE cluster just like any other application running on Kubernetes.
|
Enterprises can follow a standard operations model to oversee their business-critical applications, like Jenkins, by reducing the burden on admins and decreasing the overall learning curve. |
Autoscale on-demand Provision an unlimited number of Jenkins Masters and Agents as Kubernetes pods without manual intervention.
|
True elasticity means your infrastructure scales on-demand as your workload increases, improving stability and giving time back to developers. |
Ability for CJE to run in its own unique namespace
|
CJE running in its own namespace means stronger security and tighter access controls for your cluster. |
Configure resources needed for the cluster with YAML YAML is a familiar language, which makes it easy for anyone on the team to read and maintain configurations.
|
This capability allows for granular resource control and, in turn, improved manageability of your instance. |
Team master creation recipe Allows customers to select what plugins are installed on a master during the creation. Note: Currently restricted in version 1.0 to 2 fixed recipes. 1) "basic" and 2) "java-web" |
Enables faster onboarding of teams with pre-baked configurations. |
New User Experience installed by default Eliminates the need to install the "New User Experience" plugin on Operations Center to use the new UX |
Improves productivity by eliminating installation steps. |

CloudBees Assurance Program (CAP)
CAP is a rigorous vetting process conducting hundreds of hours of testing on the Jenkins core and its plugins. Every month, CAP delivers a growing list of verified integrations and a recommended configuration based on a recent Jenkins LTS release. CAP updates are propagated to all CloudBees Jenkins Solutions, including CJP and CJE.
