We are delighted to announce the availability of our December fixed and rolling releases for CloudBees Jenkins Enterprise and CloudBees Assurance Program (CAP). A major highlight in this month's release is the addition of custom user roles for CloudBees Jenkins Enterprise. In the screenshot below, all the roles - admin, developer, QA and viewer are custom.
CloudBees Jenkins Enterprise 1.11.0 & 1.11.1
Our flagship product, CloudBees Jenkins Enterprise (CJE), solves the automation needs for organizations requiring scalability, security, manageability and resiliency capabilities with Jenkins. We have added many improvements in this release, a major highlight is custom user roles for team members. You can leverage the CLI to add custom roles and sync GitHub collaborators with Jenkins users.
Feature | Benefit |
---|---|
Custom user roles After a team is created, it is possible to customize roles for team members rather than use the default roles and permissions. Users can be assigned multiple roles within a team. |
Roles and permissions are customizable for each individual team. This enables standardization and the flexibility to support teams with different business requirements while keeping a simple permission model. |
Jenkins containers based on Alpine Linux distribution Containers for Operations Center, Managed Master, Castle, etc. are based on most commonly used OS. |
This enhancement makes Jenkins images lightweight so the image is downloaded faster, installed and running in a container faster. Security is also improved as the image has a smaller footprint thus making the attack surface also smaller. |
Improved security model for teams CLI commands can be used to automate team security management. CLI commands can be used to edit and manage roles and permissions. |
Team security can be fully customizable and automated by using the CLI, enabling bulk changes to be made. |

Team administrators can browse other teams in read-only mode Admin users on one team will be able to browse the configuration of other teams they are members of. |
This feature is the first step toward a team dashboard page. It enables cross-visibility for admins with a read-only view of other teams they are members of, thereby sharing best practices across groups. |
CloudBees Assurance Program (CAP)
CAP is a rigorous vetting process, conducting hundreds of hours of testing on the Jenkins core and plugins. Every month, CAP delivers a growing list of verified integrations and a recommended configuration based on a recent Jenkins LTS release. CAP updates are propagated into all CloudBees Jenkins Solutions. The Beekeeper Upgrade Assistant was redesigned to provide a smoother, streamlined user experience.
