Summary
The ElectricInsight 5.2 release significantly enhances the analytic capabilities of the ElectricInsight reporting system, with an emphasis on producing actionable intelligence to assist in identifying and correcting build performance problems. In addition, it will enable ElectricInsight users to debug problems in their Makefiles.
New features and functionality:
Two new reporting features are introduced to enable ElectricInsight customers to compare, analyze and pinpoint differences in performance between two similar builds. They are the “Annotation Differences” report and the “Metric Differences” report.
In addition, two new reporting features are introduced to enable ElectricInsight customers to identify and fix problems in their Makefiles. They are the “Why Rebuild” report, which provides a prioritized list of reasons for object rebuild, and the “Submake Stub” report, which identifies sub-make stub invocations that are not compatible with ElectricAccelerator.
Command line versions of two existing reports, the “Derived files analysis” report and the “Cluster sharing” report, are now available and can be used for automating these reports and incorporating them as part of a Continuous Integration process.
Electric Cloud recommends all customers upgrade their ElectricInsight installation to v5.2. See the Release Notes for a summary of all product improvements and known issues.
