CentOS JNLP startup script

Issue

I would like to install a JNLP slave as a centos service.

Environment

  • Centos, RHEL
  • CloudBees Jenkins Enterprise
  • CloudBees Jenkins Operations Center

Resolution

Installing a JNLP slave on a CentOS environment can be installed via several methods.

  • If you execute javaws JENKINS_URL/computer/COMPNAME/jenkins-slave.jnlp a windowed mode in the menu is an option to install the slave as a service.
  • If you are running in headless mode, then we created a simple script for creating a new Jenkins slave: Startup scripts for centos. Some modifications need to be made to the jenkins-slave file to reflect your environment.
