Microservices Tutorial: Amazon EC2 ECS Additional Instructions

Before you can deploy the Motorbike-app to Amazon ECS ECS, you will need to complete a few additional steps.

Create a load balancer

Create a load balancer on Amazon ECS and an 'Identity and Access Management Role (IAM role). Ensure the target group is added to the listener on the load balancer. 

Update Environment Property

At step 37 in the tutorial "Amazon EC2 Container Services - Additional Instructions".

1. Click on the Environment Menu on the Right hand side
2. Select Properties in the menu
3. Click the property 'service_url' and enter the DNS name of the load balancer you created in the value.
4. Click OK to save

Set Parameters in the Tier Map

In Step 45 of the Tutorial "View Tier Maps: Amazon EC2 Container Services - Additional Instructions".

1. Click on the tier mapping
2. Scroll down to the bottom and enter values for two parameters
   • loadBalancerName - The name of the load balancer created on Amazon ECS
   • iamRole - The name of IAM role created 
3. Click OK to save
