Plugins missing from Update Center after installing CloudBees Jenkins v2.x

Issue

  • After installing CloudBees Jenkins 2.x, I would like to install a new plugin (a fresh installation of “plugin X”) but it does not appear in the Update Center of my instance.

Environment

  • CloudBees Jenkins Operations Center (CJOC) since 2.x.
  • CloudBees Jenkins Enterprise (CJE) since 2.x.

Resolution

CloudBees Jenkins 2.x introduces the Beekeeper Upgrade Assistant which maintains your system’s integrity by providing only plugins verified compatible by the CloudBees Assurance Program (CAP). Due to this any plugins that have not been verified compatible by CAP are not listed in the Update Center.

If there is a plugin you would like to install that is not a part of CAP, please follow the steps below:

1. Navigate to Manage Jenkins > Beekeeper Upgrade Assistant, then uncheck Enroll this instance in the CloudBees Assurance Program and Save it. This action will switch Update Center endpoint from inside the “envelope” to outside it.

2. Next navigate to Manage Jenkins > Manage Plugins > Advanced tab and click on Check Now, ensuring the update of the Plugin Manager metadata after which you should find the specific plugin or plugins you would like to install on the Available tab.

3. Lastly, after installing “plugin X”, it is highly recommended that you re-enable enrollment to the CloudBees Assurance Program (CAP).
