Using Slave Retention Strategies with JNLP Slaves

Issue

JNLP Slaves and Slave Retention Strategies

Environment

CloudBees Jenkins Enterprise

Resolution

A JNLP slave connection is initiated by the slave, a Jenkins master does not manage
them in general.

Thus the Jenkins master will terminate the connection due to
the retention strategy:

Take this slave on-line when in demand and off-line when idle

The slave will then re-establish the connection.

If the retention strategy:

Take this slave on-line according to a schedule

is selected, the JNLP slave connection will be terminated by the Jenkins master
according to the schedule, but the slave will then re-establish the connection.
