User not in Jenkins people list after adding to cloudbees account

Issue

  • I want to modify the users role to admin. When looking at the people list within jenkins the user does not appear.
  • Adding the user to the admin group using either their email or username shows the user is not recognised as in the system

Resolution

For users you registered on console.cloudbees.com,  a user’s identity is based on email address. Other ‘users’ in jenkins are extracted from SCM changelogs and dynamically populated.

Users registered on console.cloudbees.com are not immediately created on your Jenkins instance - a Jenkins user is created when they login, and our SSO service does a validation access to the web UI. So you won’t see this user in the people UI until they connect. Also, this list isn’t persisted (until the user edits their profile to add additional informations)
